Nikka – Tsuru Aged 17 Years – July 25th, 2012

This was an incredible whisky. Not a Brother didn’t like it. As Brother Scott read out a compilation of various tasting notes, many were able to detect floral tones, hints of chocolate and the implication of smoke. There was citrus and sweetness, a perfect amount of bitterness, all contributing to a spectacular balance. Nothing stood out, yet everything did. Oh and long, spicy warm. A perfect dram. Named for Nikka founder Masataka Taketsuru. $140 from Kensington Wine Market in Calgary.
